When a good mage falls, the spirits of ancients weep. Wielding magical power is a gift. Whether this gift comes from years of scholarship, a magical bloodline, or dalliances with the divine, power is never to be taken lightly.
Our mage was one of strength and honour. A practicing sorcerer, our mage inherited his magic from his mother who was a healer and renowned folk hero. He never knew his father, but they say he was a great hero and fighter killed in battle against an orcish army. Our mage was deeply gifted with immense ability to control his powers. He learned to heal and desired to help others – understanding that magic has the ability to ease certain struggles of ordinary folk. Our mage travelled, and as he did his knowledge and power grew.
One early morning, our mage was travelling along a forested path in an area yet unknown to him as it was to many travellers. On the outskirts of a small village, the area was said to have a corruption which bled into the very soil he walked on. Not believing anything until it was before him, our mage wished to investigate the corruption and to ease the minds of the village people nearby. As he walked along the forest path, he noticed that the trees were yellowing and the earth was dry and cracked. Engaging his magical sight, it was clear that there was indeed a corruption in the area. A magical blight created to destroy the natural life which once saturated the forest.
